Subject: RE: Rev 2.0 Prototype Pixel FTB Specifications

Alex discovered an important mistake in the FTB design specifications.  The Rev 2.0 design specs imply that this design can be used for both the “top” and “bottom” FTBs in the pixel assembly.  Figure 10 on page 18 shows three top and three bottom FTBs installed in a FTB assembly plate, however, this image is inaccurate.  The top three FTBs shown in Figure 10 are per the Rev 2.0 design specifications.  The bottom three FTBs are a mirror (along the horizontal) image of the Rev 2.0 design specifications – these are two different layouts/boards.

Since the goal of the current exercise is to get an accurate vendor quote for the manufacturing of the board, I suggest we proceed with the current spec.  However, the final FTB solution may require two different designs.  One would be a “Top FTB” design and other would be a “Bottom FTB” design.

An additional suggestion Alex made was to extend the flex-cable slots all the way up to the “Ground Configuration Area.”  This would not save from needing an offset in the flex-cable, however, it might make the routing of the flex-cables easier.  This should also be included in a future revision of the FTB design spec.

Subject: Rev 2.0 Prototype Pixel FTB Specifications

The Rev 2.0 Prototype Pixel Feed-Through Board design specifications are now complete.  The specifications document can be found in the BTeV documents database as BTeV-doc-1730 or at following URL:

http://www-ese.fnal.gov/eseproj/BTeV/PixelReadout/WebSite.html

Using the above link, scroll down to the section titled “Pixel Feed-Through Board.”  This web site contains the specifications document, images, and data sheets for all the FTB components.

Thank you,

Brad
