This block diagram shows the internal modules of the Optical Readout Board. The ORB will control and readout the 5-chip FPIX1 module through fiber optic links. The readout link will receive data at 1,060 MHz (a 20 bit word every 53 MHz). The data will be buffered localy until is readout through the VME interface. The initialization and control link will operate at 53MHz. The data will becodified following the bi-phase mark encoding, which allows the NRZ data and the 53MHz clock to be codified onto a single serial line.
