Tests of Radiation Hard Sensors for the SLHC

Overview:  At the SLHC, after 2500 pb-1 of data, the expected maximum fluence for the pixel region (< 20 cm) will be 2.5 x 1016 cm-2.  To cope with this unprecedented radiation environment a variety of solutions have been pursued for vertex and tracking detectors at the SLHC.  These include diamond sensors, 3D sensors, MCZ planar silicon detectors, epitaxial, p-type silicon wafers and thin silicon detectors.

T-992 Goal:  A series of tests will be performed to study the variety of detectors in a test beam with the overall goal to compare their performance before and after irradiation.  To do so, the CMS pixel-based telescope currently installed and in operation at the M-Test facility will be used.  In particular, charge distribution, hit efficiency, and spatial resolution will be studied of the irradiated and unirradiated devices.
