HAZARD ANALYSIS - LASERS
Description of Work: Class III-B Laser Testing: VCSEL (laser diode), PIN photodiode and optical fiber characterization and testing. The optical power used will place the VCSEL up to class III-B (maximum). The optical beam will always be enclosed and not exposed to the open air.

|
Pre-test Start-up |
Accidental eye exposure to beam. |
Check laser, connectors, fibers, and PIN diodes to assure that the beam will not be freed to air. |
|
During testing |
Accidental eye exposure to beam. |
Never disconnect laser diode or PIN photodiode from fibers when the power supply is ON. |
|
Storage |
